| Farmyard
Studios...
The B SHARPS spend a
few days at Farmyard Studios deep in the Cotswold countryside. Under
the expert eye of Simon Plater who is the
producer and owner of Farmyard
Studios, the band managed to record a number of new tracks for their
website. With only a couple of days to
get everything done, the plan was to record four tracks that would
help to showcase the range of material the band play.
The
songs are recorded track by track. First the drums with the rest of
the band playing a guide track, then the bass guitar track is added,
then the rhythm and lead guitars and finally the lead and backing
vocals are added. Everything is then mixed together by Simon. The
studio is fully equipped with loads of high quality racks, effects,
mixers, microphones etc and the band did their best to pretend that
they knew what all the knobs and switches were for!
STUDIO TRACKS:
- Track 1: Sunday Girl
(Blondie)
- Track 2: I saw her standing
there (The Beatles)
- Track 3: Caroline
(Status Quo)
- Track 4: I predict a riot
(The Kaiser Chiefs)
After getting the main tracks
done the band found they had a few hours of recording time left so
decided to do 3 more "one take" recordings. After
wiring everything up and a quick sound check, there would be no
time to correct any mistakes so in effect these are recorded "live!
LIVE TRACKS:
- Track 5: Are you gonna be me
girl (Jet)
- Track 6: Sweet child O' mine
(Guns & Roses)
- Track 7: Irish rover
(The Pogues)
The evenings were spent at The Lamb Inn
having a pint and a slap up meal (highly recommended!) Getting home
at night is an interesting experience as they don't seem to have
invented any streetlamps in the countryside! The other main evening
activities were helping the environment by recycling empty beer cans
- we tried to donate as many as
possible! eating pizza and watching "Hell Boy" on the VCR
(a VCR is what they used to have before DVD!)
The accommodation provided at
Farmyard Studios was comfy and all the boys slept upstairs under
nice comfy duvets. Sleeping in a single room however, it soon became
apparent that all the members of the band had some sort of
disgusting or annoying habit - and in some cases were very proud of
the fact! To see some video footage of the band at Farmyard studios

And finally...
The B Sharps
would like to express their thanks to Simon for his friendly
help, advice and expertise and have no hesitation in recommending
Farmyard Studios.
